Lintel Installation Guidelines

1. Positioning:

  • Place the lintel above the opening, fully covered in cement.
  • Make sure the walls on both sides of the opening are level.

2. Mortar Application:

  • Put a layer of cement on top of the lintel.
  • Continue laying blocks as usual.

3. Bracket Use:

  • If there's a column on one side and a wall on the other, use a bracket that fits.
  • Secure the bracket with 3-4 anchor bolts (8 mm wide, 100 mm long).

4. Lintel Support:

  • Put one end of the lintel on the bracket and the other end on the wall.
  • Apply cement on the lintel and keep laying blocks.

5. Jack Support:

  • For spans longer than 1 meter, use a support (jack) under the lintel.
  • Complete the first two rows of blocks on the first day.
  • Repeat this on the second and third days.

6. Ongoing Work:

  • From the fourth day, work can continue without interruptions.
  • Take away the jack after the 5th day.

7. Span Considerations:

  • Spans over 2.25 meters will need at least one welded joint.
  • For spans over 2 meters, secure the lintel to the roof with 10 mm rods and anchor bolts every 1.5 meters.
  • Make sure the anchor bolts are set into the wall when finished.
