Purpose

Arpitha aluminum expansion joints are used for gaps between floors and walls, as well as wall corners.
They have a durable aluminum base and cover to prevent leaks through the joints.

Wall Expansion Joint Installation

For Wall Expansion Joint

  1. Clean Surface: Clean the wall on both sides of the expansion joint gap for 4 inches (100 mm).
  2. Smooth Finish: Grind uneven areas for a smooth finish and remove dust with an air blower.
  3. Apply Adhesive: Use polymer-based adhesive from Arpitha Exports on the cleaned surface.
  4. Affix Waterproof Sheet: Press the PVC waterproof sheet firmly onto the adhesive, ensuring no air pockets.
  5. Install Plaster Stop Bead: Place Arpitha galvanized iron plaster stop bead along the edges of the gap, with folds facing each other. Nail it to the wall.
  6. Add Plaster Mesh: Spread 6 inches (150 mm) Arpitha Plaster Mesh over the stop bead on both sides and nail it to the wall.
  7. Apply Cement Mortar: Cover with a thin coat of cement mortar and allow curing for 1-2 days.
  8. Install PVC Profile: Slide the PVC profile onto the stop bead on both sides, bridging the gap.
  9. Finish Installation: Apply cement mortar to level the PVC profile on both sides.

For Powder Coated Aluminum

  1. Clean Surface: Clean the wall on both sides of the expansion joint gap for 25 mm.
  2. Smooth Finish: Grind uneven areas for a smooth finish and remove dust with an air blower.
  3. Apply Adhesive: Use a 3:1 mixture of Mapei Adhesilex PG4 parts A and B on both sides of the gap.
  4. Install Water Barrier: Fix the 100-mm-wide waterproof PVC-coated fabric water barrier on the cleaned surface, pressing firmly to avoid air pockets.
  5. Install Aluminum Profile: Fix the 125 mm wide powder-coated aluminum profile (1.5 mm thick, 2.5 meters long) over the water barrier using gaskets and suitable screws.
